Performance and Processing Power
Powered by an enterprise-grade Qualcomm® octa-core processor operating at clock speeds up to 2.7 GHz, delivering fast computing throughput for simultaneous enterprise resource planning (ERP) syncs, mobile dispatch, and continuous barcode scanning. The device is provisioned with enterprise memory configurations including up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of high-speed UFS onboard flash storage, expandable up to 2TB via a secured microSD slot to store offline transport manifests, technical documentation, and site maps in regional blackspot areas. Running natively on Android with Zebra Mobility DNA enterprise enhancements, the platform provides long-term security patching roadmaps via Zebra LifeGuard™, giving enterprise IT administrators predictable deployment lifecycles and streamlined management through standard Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) suites.
Display and Input Design
Features a 6.0-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) edge-to-edge capacitive touch screen delivering 600+ nits of optical brightness for high-contrast legibility under direct Australian sunlight. The display surface is fortified with chemically strengthened Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® to resist abrasive red dust, surface scratching, and structural fractures. The multi-touch digitiser is tuned for demanding industrial environments, providing responsive tracking when operated with wet hands, a stylus, or heavy synthetic and leather work gloves during field operations.
Connectivity and Expansion
Engineered for Australian commercial telecommunications infrastructure, the integrated cellular modem supports 5G Sub-6 GHz (SA and NSA) and 4G LTE carrier frequencies, including 700 MHz (Band 28) for long-range coverage across regional transport routes. Wireless local networking features cutting-edge Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) with fast roaming protocols to maintain active server connections across expansive distribution centres and laydown yards. Short-range data sharing and asset pairing are handled by Bluetooth 5.2/5.3 and integrated high-frequency NFC. Precision GNSS positioning utilizes dual-frequency (L1/L5) GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou satellite tracking to deliver fast, reliable geofencing and real-time vehicle dispatch. Dedicated hardware interfaces include back-chassis charging contacts for multi-slot depot cradles and robust vehicle-mount locking mechanisms.
Battery Life and Charging
Extended multi-shift operation is powered by Zebra's intelligent PowerPrecision+ rechargeable Lithium-ion battery system, engineered to report real-time health metrics including cycle count, state of health, and remaining runtime to prevent unexpected depot downtime. Fleets can be provisioned with either a standard capacity 5,000 mAh (19.45 Wh) battery for balanced handheld ergonomics, an extended capacity 7,240 mAh (28.16 Wh) pack for continuous 12-hour transport shifts, or a specialised 5,000 mAh (19.45 Wh) wireless charging battery. This rugged device supports fast charging alongside True Hot-Swap capability, allowing operators to change depleted cells mid-shift without closing enterprise applications, dropping network sessions, or interrupting vehicle dispatch logs. Charging infrastructure is supported by single-slot desktop cradles, lockable 12–24V in-cabin vehicle mounts, and high-density multi-slot depot gang chargers.
Usability
Weighing 284 g - 314 g along with dimensions of 165.0 x 77.9 x 15.5 mm, the Zebra TC701 features dual dedicated side scan triggers, programmable hardware function buttons, and enterprise Push-to-Talk (PTT) capabilities. It is purpose-built for the following enterprise workflows:
-
Freight Transport & Route Logistics – Execute real-time electronic proofs of delivery (ePOD), sign-on-glass parcel verifications, and cross-dock scanning across national Australian supply chain corridors.
-
Warehouse & Distribution Inventory – Perform high-speed barcode capture on high-density pick faces, pallet racking, and inbound inventory manifests using integrated enterprise 1D/2D scanning engines.
-
Mining, Oil & Gas Laydown Yards – Track high-value plant components, register tool transfers, and access digital work orders in dusty, high-vibration remote laydown environments.
-
Field Service & Asset Maintenance – Complete electronic safety inspections, document equipment status using high-resolution cameras, and coordinate work crews via PTT voice over 5G and Wi-Fi networks.
Rugged Durability
The Zebra TC701 is constructed with a reinforced, impact-absorbing chassis engineered to meet stringent MIL-STD-810H environmental standards. Mechanical drop resilience is rated for repeated 2.4-metre (8-foot) drops directly onto concrete across the entire operational temperature spectrum from -20°C to +50°C, expanding to 3.05-metre (10-foot) survivability when fitted with the protective rugged boot. Ingress protection is dual-certified to IP65 and IP68 standards per IEC specifications, ensuring the unit is completely impervious to airborne particulate matter, fine iron ore dust, high-pressure water washdowns, and continuous water submersion up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. The internal housing withstands continuous machinery vibration (4g PK Sine / 0.04 g2/Hz Random) and over 2,000 consecutive 1.0-metre tumbles in a rotating test drum. The optical scanning window and front display are shielded by Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®, while the housing polymers are chemically resistant to commercial cleaning detergents, synthetic hydraulic fluids, and diesel fuel common to heavy industrial workshops.
