Panasonic has named the Toughbook FZ-A3 its most powerful Android™ rugged tablet to date. Panasonic is making it easier for businesses to move away from Windows Embedded Handheld mobile operating systems with support for migrating to Android™.
The A3 has been a welcome addition to a worker’s busy day in a range of industries including warehousing, logistics, transportation, and retail. Weighing in at 900 grams, it’s considered a lightweight tablet suitable for any worker to hold and carry around all day long.
Toughbook FZ-A3 Specification and DataSheet
Display
The 10.1-inch full HD resolution display is one of the Toughbook’s main selling points. Unlike most rugged devices, its screen is glossy allowing for crisper text and images so it looks more like what you’d see on a consumer iPad. Except its bright 500-nit (800-nit max) backlit and anti-reflective screen treatment makes it more user friendly in the outdoors compared to any consumer product. The high contrast ratio is 1500:1.
Its 10-point capacitive multi-touch screen has rain and glove mode sensors to tailor to most conditions and users.
The device has a rear 8MP camera and a rear 5MP camera which is better than some laptop webcams.
Specifications
The Toughbook FZ-A3 features an octa-core Qualcomm® processor, 4GM of RAM, and 64GM of built-in storage. There’s also the option of a microSDXC card slot for more storage, if required. The operating system is Android™ 9.0 (Pie).
The Toughbook FZ-A3 has built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, and NFC support. It can also be equipped with an optional 4G LTE network card.
Casing
The corners of the unit are rubberised to help it survive drops of up to 5 feet (1.5m) onto concrete. The chassis meets the latest MIL-STD810H rugged standards for protection against foreign objects, water and drops. Its IP65 certification means it is protected against water jets from any angle and protected against dust and vibrations. The unit can operate in extreme temperatures.
Being a fully rugged device, all the ports have the added protection of flaps. The case has a removable barcode reader called the Panasonic Gadget. There is also a handy recess to keep your stylus pen secure.
The battery life is an impressive nine hours but users can hot swap batteries to extend the life or plug into a power outlet if in the office, without the need to power down.
Acessories
The accessories make the A3 suitable for a variety of work settings. Choose from the Panasonic AC Adapter 65W, Panasonic tether, shoulder strap, 5-day battery charger and desktop cradle.
The usability is further enhanced with a stylus pen, insertable card reader, a second USB and 1D/2D barcode reader.
