Ruggedness
The device is rated IP64 so it’s protected from dust ingress and water spray from all directions. The MIL-STD 810G certifies the unit against drop, shock, vibration, rain, dust, humidity and extreme temperatures. The storage and operating temperatures can range from -10?C to 55?C. The operating humidity is between 5% and 95%. The tablet can survive a 4’ drop.
The device is suitable for division 2 zones which are classified as a ‘place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of gas, vapor or mist is not likely to occur in normal operation but, if it does occur, will persist for a short period only.’ Both IECEx and ATEX certify the device to be used in Zone 2 locations.

The ecom Pad®-Ex 01 P8 DZ2’s operating system is Windows Pro and the CPU is the 8th Generation Intel® Core™.
The device has a 5MP rear camera with flashlight and a 2MP front facing camera. The display is an 11.6” FHD LCD panel that is capacitive multi-touch, and optical sunlight-readable. The generous screen size means the tablet can be used in place of a laptop or desktop PC. Once work in the field is complete, the tablet transforms into a PC with the optional desktop docking interface.
For workers needing barcode scanning access, there is the option of 1D or 2D scanners. The expansion slots include one microSD card slot support and one SIM card slot for WWAN data communication.
Portability and Connectivity
The dimensions of the tablet make it portable at 298 mm x 192 mm x 20 mm and a weight of 1.2 kg. The 3,950 mAh Li-Polymer battery pack has a battery life of seven hours. If you need a longer run time, the 7,800 mAh Li-Polymer battery pack lasts 14 hours.
For those sites with 4G / LTE wireless connectivity, the tablet offers fast and seamless access so the essential information is always available. If 4G and WiFi isn’t available, workers can use the 256GB of SSD memory for on-board data storage requirements. The latest Bluetooth standards provide real time connectivity to Bluetooth devices including older legacy ones. High speed and efficiency for the most demanding tasks is available with the Intel® Core™ i5 processor.
Accessories
The range of accessories make it comfortable to carry and use the Windows tablet for long periods. For carrying the tablet choose between the hand strap, X-strap, shoulder strap or leather case. In addition to spare batteries, there’s a battery charger with two charging bays and a car charger. Office and vehicle docks are available.
