Ruggedized features include a spill proof keyboard, foam rubber protection around the hard disk and military-compliant magnesium casing behind the 13.3” display screen to help protect the system from vibration and drop. The DURABOOK S13Y has advanced features such as an optical disk lock which prevents accidental ejections from drops and vibrations. There is also an anti-shock mounted hard drive, which also utilizes a flexible cable design to absorb shock and vibration preventing data loss and double protection smart-circuitry design has been implemented in the battery to prevent damage from overheating or voltage surges.
