The NEW Panasonic Toughbook U1 is an Ultra-Mobile rugged computer that has revolutionized the rugged computer industry. This rugged UMPC is revolutionary in that it uses the new Atom processor by Intel which is a low heat processor that can run full blown Windows XP or Vista. The Toughbook U1 is also unique in that it uses hot-swappable twin batteries with a total battery life of 9 hours. With so many features, the Toughbook U1 is the perfect tool for a rough day out in the field. Fully rugged and weighing less than 1.1Kgs, the Toughbook U1 is sure to replace the standard handheld computer.

The Toughbook U1 is also the most rugged UMPC and PDA that Panasonic makes. Rated IP 54 and MIL-STD-810F the Toughbook U1 can take a 1 metre drop, has a magnesium alloy cage chassis, a removable solid state hard drive and a sealed all-weather design that protects the UMPC from rain, spills, dust and vibration. The Toughbook U1 comes standard with sunlight viewable display, anti-reflective screen treatment, LED backlighting, touchscreen LCD, SD card slot, USB port and Bluetooth, Toughbook U1 models come loaded with Windows XP Professional, also includes a Vista® Business upgrade in the box. The U1 can be optioned up to include integrated GPS, 2 megapixel camera, and HSDPA (NextG).

The product is being made available in two models. The base model is ideal for data collection and field use, The second model is fully configured with all the integrated options such as internal GPS, Camera, Barcode Scanner and HSDPA.
